FETC

What is FETC? Florida Educational Technology Conference. I spent Thursday through Saturday there. 

I love technology and know it is a great way to engage the students. I am always on the lookout for new ideas. Especially free resources to use and share. Well after three days, I thought my head might explode. I got many ideas to use and share. I can't wait to play with the different Google tools and see how I can use them in my grade. 

It was a worthwhile conference and I am glad I was able to go.

The Piano

Well, actually a piano. I have decided to buy one. I have always wanted to learn to play. Since being honest with myself is a part of my communicate goal, I made the decision.

Of course, when I told Michael, he gave me that look. The one that says, "what is the point of that?" My response was simple,"motorcycle, guns, boat". He has things for himself, I can have the same. 

But he has already been looking on Craig's list for one. It was $250 and needed refinishing, so I said, thanks for looking, but we can find better. I am not in a rush, but will have a piano by the end of the year.

Week 1 Complete

I made some goals for the week and met them. I am mailing out three cards tomorrow. I am updating my blog as I type. lol I stayed on top of my class work for my online class and faced a work issue. 

I didn't get a photo taken. I had an idea, just didn't do it. I will do two this week. My goals for this week.

1. Send out three cards

2. Take 2 photographs

3. At least one blog post

4. Journal 3 times during the week

Due: Jan. 17th.

2009 Begins

Another year is upon us. I am very happy with the way 2008 turned out, am am looking forward to the new year. 

Once again, I am forgoing the resolutions. They get forgotten so quickly. Instead, I am focusing on one area of my life to make changes in. This year's word is 'communicate'. My definition is: to exchange thoughts, feeling, and ideas. My goals are as follows:

To communicate with my extended family more.

To communicate my needs and feelings to my immediate family.

To communicate with my friends, that means getting together more often. 

To communicate with others honestly.

To not be afraid of communication (this is a work related goal).

To communicate my goals to myself and be honest about my efforts at meeting them.

That is a good start. Amazing how one little word can interact in so many areas of my life. I have posted my word in my side bar, and on the wall of my scrap booking room. The visual reminder will keep me on task, I hope.
