Walk America

Saturday, April 28, 2007

Today was my county's day for Walk America for the March of Dimes. It wasn't that hot when the walk started at 8:00, but the humidity was at least 90%. Yikes. But I feel good for walking. My school, the kids bringing in donations, raised $10,000!!!

I have been finding time to read again. I am reading the Frankenstein series by Dean Koontz. I am on book two. They are well written. I almost don't want to finish the book because the third book isn't out yet.

Just Amelia and a friend playing in a tree outside. I love these ficus trees. All the branches and the way they criss-cross and continue to make the trunk larger and larger. Taken at 4:15 in the afternoon, the sun was behind Amelia. The tree provided enough to block the strongest light.

In memory to those who lost their lives at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007. God Bless them all.

A Long 5 Days

So last week, I traveled with Amelia and the winter guard to World Championships in Dayton, OH. 20 hours each way on a bus, a fun way to travel. But I digress.

The 27th Parallel did an outstanding job. Prelims were on Thursday, they scored in the top 32 (out of 64) and made it to semi-finals. More practice and lots of sleep brought us to Friday the 13th (a lucky day in my opinion). Again, the girls performed at their best. Even as their music cut off. They counted their way to the end, showing nothing but professionalism and a guard that knows what they are doing. In the end, they placed 25th overall. Not bad for a team that is 3 years old.

Around Town

Saturday, April 7, 2007

The area I live in is known for fishing, particularly sailfish. This statue is downtown and is an icon for our town.

This was taken around 6:00pm; the sun was behind me. I cropped and did a little saturation to bring out the color of the sky. No exposure or white balanced adjustments needed, I was happy with that.

I've Been Scrapping!

Thursday, April 5, 2007
It feels nice to actually get some layouts done again. They are all in my slide scow. Scroll down, it is on the right. I am doing current and past photos. I have so much to do. I get stuck in a rut if I only do past stuff. Slowly but surely the pages will get done. Plus if I was finished I wouldn't have an excuse to buy all those pretty scrapbook papers and items I like so much. Thanks for looking.

Spring Break!!

Tuesday, April 3, 2007
Two wonderful days so far. It has been nice. I have done some scrapbooking, finished two pages, started two more. Read a book, Something Borrowed by Emily Griffin. Spent some time on the computer. Amelia has been off with her friends. Tomorrow we may go do to see some family.

Michael's parents will be here Thursday evening. They are staying past Easter.

Gold Medalists

Monday, April 2, 2007
That's rights. The 2th Parallel WInter Guard are GOLD MEDALISTS!!!!

Yesterday was the FFCC (Florida Federations of Colorguards Circuit) Championships in Orlando. The girls put their hearts and souls into a flawless performance. Enough to pull ahead of their competition and receive first place and a Gold Medal!! Amelia's part is an acting part, and she does it so well. I am proud of the hard work she has put into this for the last three months. She is now working on the 'spinning' skills.
