Sabre Routine

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Amelia got to perform with the highschool senior color guard at the Christmas concert tonight. There are 5 seniors and 5 eighth graders on the middle school guard. They did a routine to Let It Be.

I got a new video camera to record such events. Hope you all enjoy. I apologize for the zoom in the middle, tonight was my first time to ever use the camera.

The Party

Sunday, October 19, 2008
My child is officially a teenager. I can't believe it. On Monday we went to dinner with friends, this is the cake we had that night.

She had her party last night, we did a Halloween theme. Here is the cake from last night, a variation of the original one.

The table with the other themed goodies I made.

Her is the group of girls in their Halloween costumes. They changed right after the picture for apple bobbing and general goofing off.

All in all, the party was a success. And I am done for another year. sigh!

This Weekend's Scrapping

Sunday, August 3, 2008

I had a great weekend scrapping. Here are the pages I completed, inspired by various challenges at the DAWG!

Disney Photos

Monday, July 7, 2008
Some photos from Disney. The fairy is an airbrush on Amelia's leg. The giant toys and characters are from POP Century, our hotel. The theme is the decades, and each building area is decorated with icons from that era. I love the giant big wheel and fussball players.

This is my favorite fireworks photo, except for the guy who wouldn't sit down. I love how you can see the castle.

Presenting... the New Room

Wednesday, June 25, 2008
Here it is... all painted and put back together. We took the closet door off, it came out into the room and took up space. We put a curtain up for privacy, she has a small walk-in closet, so the curtain is handy. I got a wooden barstool and painted it brown for the table next to her bed.

The New... Bedding and Paint

The new bedding that inspired the new room...

The new wall colors are blue (on three walls)

and green (on one wall)

Out with the Old

Amelia decided it was time for new bedding and a new room. This is the old, purple, polka dots, and fun. The purple was on the walls for 5 years, and the dots were added when we got the bedding 3 years ago. Say goodbye to the purple.

Another Week Gone

Thursday, June 19, 2008
The summer goes to fast! I had a wonderful time at the Dr. Jean Camp Kindergarten workshop last week. I got several ideas for my class next year. That is always a good thing.

This week has been busy prepping Amelia's to paint this weekend. She got new bedding (I'll do another post about that) and the purple walls don't match the brown, blue, pink, orange, and yellow bedding! lol

I am working on some school projects as well. YAY ME!! I usually have good intentions for the summer, and then don't do anything. But a few hours a week won't kill me. (and people think teachers don't work over the summer... ha)

I need to plan our itinerary for our trip to Chicago. I am just overwhelmed by the restaurant choices, I don't know where to begin. But I have a few places I want to eat at, so I will get started on that soon.

That is all.

Dad's Schedule

Monday, June 9, 2008
I am going to Atlanta for 4 days. I am going to Dr. Jean's summer workshop. I am excited and hoping to get lots of ideas and inspiration.

Of course Amelia has two camps and an orthodontist's appointment this week. I wrote up a schedule for Michael. lol When and here to take her each day. And don't forget getting me to the airport.

I did it because he gets so busy at work, the times need to be on his mind so he will stop and shuttle her around.

Summer's Here

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Finally, summer is here. I am very ready for this break. It has been a long year, personally and professionally. I am ready for the break and a chance to recharge my enthusiasm. I did get a little teary eyed as we waved goodbye to the busses.

I have 9 weeks off.  I am going to a conference next week that I am excited about. I have some plans for the summer, but there are some unknowns about next year. Hopefully, I will have some answers by the end of tomorrow. Otherwise, there is no need to do planning this summer.

Summer Plans
1. Read (I want to read at least 10 books this summer)
2. Scrap two days a week
3. Get out the camera and try to learn some more
4. Go to Disney World for 4 days
5. Go to Chicago for 8 days
6. Visit my family in Michigan
7. Relax!!!

My Poor Neglected Blog

Friday, May 23, 2008
I didn't realize it had been so long since I had posted. This is just to update that:

yes, I will post again soon

We spent our last day of vacation at the beach. The water was a wonderful color today. I love the aqua coloring. The tide was coming in, giving the girls just enough wave action to play in. We stayed for about 2 hours. Long enough to have fun. I leave when the rest of the people start showing up. :)

Playing in the surf!

Getting tossed by the surf!!

Just another wave photo.

Inside my purse

Saturday, March 1, 2008
Photobucket

What a day to share what is inside my purse! The matching wallet. The old yucky checkbook I never carry. The cash I didn't put away. The change is always thrown in my purse. The clippers and my handy, dandy mini swiss knife. The clips to keep my hair off my face, the pens, the lip pencil I never use. A couple gift cards with a few dollars on them and the receipt from last nights dinner.

My Purse

So here is my purse. I am proud of my Coach purse. It took many years before I was able to walk in and afford a purse and matching wallet. I wouldn't buy it until then. Of course I went with a classic style I can carry for years.

My Purse

This is so wrong. She is the spitting image of her father.

Photo Challenge

Saturday, February 2, 2008
I know some people are doing the 365 Photography challenge, but it isn't for me. I can take a photo or several a day.... but the transferring, converting, resizing, uploading, etc... that take the time. Instead, I am doing some monthly challenges with my scrapping friends.

The first challenge was to take a photo from a different perspective. I knew I wanted to do these straws, it just took me a while to do it. So here you go...

Tagged

Thursday, January 31, 2008
Seems I have been tagged by Hoopy. Well here goes

The Rules:
1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.
2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name).
3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers.
4. At the end of your blog post, you need t tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details.)

Middle and Maiden name are the same letter count, maiden name has better letters; Stoudt

S: Searching for my place in the world
T: Totally in love with my hubby
O: Organized... nope, not me
U: Unique, at least I try to be
D: Dependable friend to those who are close to me
T: Try to be creative with my photography

Six people: Cynthia, Mommy April, Amy Z, Sharlene, Tammy, & Julie

Photo Shoot

Saturday, January 26, 2008
I had some 'me' time today. I didn't know what to do. I decided to pick up my camera and head downtown. I was hoping to get boats on the intercostal, but it was too windy. Instead, I spent two hours walking around and finding interesting things to photograph. My thoughts were on composition, trying to remember the rule of thirds to make the photo catch your eye. The slide show below is what I ended up with.

Slide Show of my Town

Hardest thing I did this week!

Wednesday, January 16, 2008
It has been exactly a week. Last Wednesday, I had a meeting with my assistant principal. I was asking for help. I can't say anything about the why or what. But I can say, it was very hard for me to do this. I like to be seen as capable, an asking for help means I am not capable.

It was the right thing to do. I left the meeting feeling better. Asking for help isn't such a bad think after all.

Typical PreTeen

Sunday, January 13, 2008

Grabbed the shot while we were at Disney a couple weeks ago. I love it. It is sassy and 'enough mom' at the same time. Gotta love the preteen years.

New Stove

Wednesday, January 9, 2008
It is Wednesday. Blog update day, or so someone has randomly decided! lol

I am getting a new stove installed by Michael right now. Our old oven was not cooking correctly. I made an off-handed comment about needing gas. He moved a propane tank to our house and bought a new stove today. He is almost done with the installation and conversion of the stove to propane. :) :) :)

I haven't cooked with gas in years, but know it is so much better. Silly thing to be excited about, but I am happy about a new stove.

Oh yeah, and the thoughtful husband who bought and installed it for us! ((hug))
